What is Diabulimia

Diabulimia is an eating disorder specific to individuals with Type 1 diabetes, characterised by intentionally skipping insulin doses and restricting food intake to control body weight. Factors like body image concerns, calorie tracking, and difficulty managing diabetes contribute to its development. Warning signs include high HbA1c levels, repeated hospital admissions, and irregular blood glucose measurements. Early diagnosis and treatment, including support from a multi-disciplinary team, are essential for managing diabulimia and preventing long-term complications.
